SEO QA Checklist Before Publishing a Website Change
A release checklist covering canonical URLs, metadata, navigation, indexing and production checks.
Validate the destination URL
Confirm the expected URL responds successfully and redirects are intentional. Watch for trailing slash inconsistencies and accidental 404 pages.
Check the rendered page
Review the title, description, H1, canonical, body copy and mobile navigation. Check the published output rather than only the source repository.
Verify discovery paths
Make sure relevant pages are linked naturally and appear in the XML sitemap when indexable. Keep robots.txt and noindex directives consistent.
Document the release
Record deployment identity, production URL and HTTP response. Recheck after publishing instead of counting a commit as a finished SEO task.
What to do next
Start with one measurable change, publish it, and check the production result. For a structured first pass, use our SEO audit prioritization guide or request a website snapshot.
